Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Then does that mean that yesterday was the last day of the first of my life?  Whew!  Glad to get that over with.  And does that mean tomorrow will be the second day of the rest of my life?   Seriously:  If every day can be the first day of the rest of your life, when does the rest of your life ever begin?  It’s like yelling, “Do over!” and reshuffling the cards after every turn in Solitaire.  I suppose you can, and I suppose it’s as good a way to waste time as playing Solitaire to begin with.  And, I suppose, you’ll never lose.  But unless you start turning over those cards, you’re never going to win, either.
