Of course violence is the answer.  Ask anybody in the NRA.  Ask anybody in the military.  Ask a cop.  Ask any of those really nasty people in those really violent drug cartels, just before they kill you.  Heck, that’s the whole idea behind corporal punishment of any sort.  One of the problems with clichés is that we are so used to hearing them that we repeat them without even questioning that they make any sense whatsoever, and this is an excellent example of that.  It would be nice if violence were never the answer.  But the truth is, violence quite often is the answer.
