"So I decided that If I couldn't be perfect, then I'd be vicious!"

Dear Mr. Collins,
I doubt if you remember me, but my name is Aaron Glass.
I had you for the second quarter of eighth grade about 15 years ago at Chadwick Junior High. I was the skinny little
kid who sat in the back and never talked. I know that I only had you for a short amount of time, but I have never forgotten
what you taught me. In particular, I’ve never forgotten what you taught us all about nonconformity. How
living a life planned by others is not living at all. The quote I remember the most is: “The ultimate goal of
any man is that he is the one who makes the rules that govern his life.” That truly affected me. It is because
of you that I was opened up to a whole new way of thinking, a whole new world of possibilities. It was you that caused
me to come out of my shell. Because of you I decided to become my own man. It is because of you that I chose the
path less traveled, and, as the Poet says, “that has made all the difference.” I just wanted you to know
this before my execution. Thank you for
being my teacher, Aaron
