My name is Barry.  I’m 43.  I’m the all night manager at Stop and Shop.  The one by the exchange.  It’s a convenience store.  Gas station.  I’ve been robbed three times.  The first time, I’ll admit, it was pretty scary.  I just did what he wanted, and he left.  The second time.  The second time wasn’t nearly as bad.  I mean, I wasn’t going to try any heroics.  Not for ten dollars an hour.  But I knew he really wasn’t going to hurt me, no matter what I did.  Let’s see, I have a degree in creative writing from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape.  And at night, when it’s slow, I write stuff.  Mostly poetry.  And I stick it up in the bathrooms, just so somebody might read it.  And at the end of every shift, I check, to see if it’s still there.  Because I can’t leave it on the wall for the General Manager to find in the morning.  So I always check to see if it’s still there.  And it always is.
