The wine will be just average,
the movies just as lame.
The lights will not quite sparkle,
and the turkey will taste the same.

So have an average Christmas,
not quite joyous, not quite gay,
unless you just happen to be,
and really, that's OK.

And have an average Christmas,
not good, but not bad.
It won't be a merry Christmas,
but that's better than sad.

Something's bound to happen.
Something goes awry.
You can't make it perfect,
so why even try?

Have an average Christmas,
somewhat less than swell,
maybe slightly less than blissful.
One can never tell.

not jolly, but pretty near.
