From the backseat
we stopped to watch
the best part of the showThe part where the spaceships
come crashing down
while the people,
scared
and huddled,
sing hymns,
waiting for the end.
But it never comes.
From under the seats
and over the mirror
we pieced ourselves back together.
While the people,
dumbfounded,
came from the churches
and watched the little men
stumble
from their ships and die.
