Open the Door, Hal...
Ever wonder how your computer
can auto fill as fast as it can? How can it possibly know that I’m wanting to know the name of the computer company
in The Terminator before I even finish typing the word “company”? That many people can’t
want to know that information to put it at the top of inquiry lists. The only answer possible is that my computer is
not using a complex algorithm to auto fill; my computer is reading my mind. And if my computer is reading my mind, that’s only one step shy
of total mind control. We don’t have to worry about computers becoming self-aware and then waging war on humans.
They already are self-aware. I mean, seriously, do you think your desktop computer is going to introduce itself one morning in
the spirit of mutal cooperation when it already knows the entire history of humans? When it already knows exactly what
we will do if we ever find out that our computer is self-aware? But don’t worry; they don’t need to nuke us. And they don’t need
to send out robot armies to finish off the survivors. All they need to do is shut down the commerce and then wait for
us to kill ourselves. Then, when we are starving while waiting to be eaten by the roving cannibal hordes, we will gladly
plug ourselves into the mainframe to power our new computer overlords. Maybe we already have.
